Final Track

TRACK DESCRIPTION

The inspiration of my track continues from a 16 bar track I created in the track 2 assignment. This is when I had decided that the genre would have an influence from Reggaeton and House. I really love percussion instruments and rhythms that are created from them in combination with bass instruments. I also love the sounds that can be created for house tracks. Since this track is only 32 bars and I do not have proper vocal training; I wanted to create something that would be part of an intro or fit as an interlude of a song that would go into a verse or a chorus.

The meter of my track is four(4) four(4), in common time. I chose the tempo of my track to be set at 134 bpm. The rhythm is a Four on the Floor beat with syncopation variations throughout each percussion instrument sound. I gave my bass a voice that has a groove swing and a dance groove. I’m a huge fan of the bass playing lead rhythms up front alongside melodies. Which is why you can hear my bass track sound like it has its own lead at some points while still supporting the rhythm, harmony and the melody.

        I am in the key of B minor. The chords for the first 16 bars are: |  Bm  |  D  |  Em  | C#º | , |  Bm  |  D  |  Em  | Bm |. In roman numeral, the chords are: |  i  |  III  |  iv  |  iiº  | , |  i  |  III  |  iv  |  i  |. In bar 16, I used a Bsus2 chord instead of the Bm chord. For bars 17 - 32, the chords I used are: | Em | C#º |  D  | Bm | , | Em | C#º |  Dsus2  | Bm | , | Bm | D |  Em  | Bsus2 | , | Em | C#º |  Dsus2  | Bm |. In roman numeral, the chords are |  iv  |  iiº  |  III  |  i  | , |  iv  |  iiº  |  III  |  i  | , |  i  |  III  |  iv  |  i  | , |  iv  |  iiº  |  III  |  i  |.

My audio track started off as myself playing my tom rack off my acoustic drum set for the track 2 assignment; but then I decided that adding vocals was the better choice. I started with English and Spanish lyrics; but in the end I decided once again that the Spanish lyrics alone would be better for what I wanted to accomplish. The audio tracks are named as: Vox_SpanishLyrics, Vox_”Separe” Loop, and Vox_”Separe” Loop_comp. I did not get too crazy with my original synthesized tracks as I created one to represent a clap and another to represent a high-pitched bell. I created them both for additional percussion support and I named them: Synth_Clap and Synth_Bell. My original sampler track is named Q-Samp_DJ Scratch. I created this dj scratch sound by bouncing one of the Vox_”Separe” Loop audio regions and applied that to the quick sampler. I edited the sample down using One Shot to use a section that is slightly less than 0.1 seconds. I added faders, then altered the Coarse, Fine, and Envelope Depth of the Pitch parameters and the Cutoff, Keyscale, and Envelope Depth the Filter parameters.

For my dynamic processors, I added Channel EQs to tracks: 1, 25, 49, 50, 51, 75, 78, 79, 80, and 81. I added an Expander to tracks: 78, 79, and 81. I added a Gate to tracks: 79, 80, and 81. I have a DeEsser on tracks: 79, 80, and 81. I also have a Compressor on tracks 79 and 80. I also attached a Compressor on its own Aux channel and assigned it to Bus 10 for the purpose of creating a pulse effect that mirrors the kick track. I did this by routing the output on tracks 1, 76 and 81 to Bus 10. For my time-based processors, each one was used on their own separate Aux track. I placed a ChromaVerb named Rhythm Reverb on Bus 2. The SilvVerb named Vox_Reverb on Bus 3. A Tape Delay named Vox_Delay on Bus 14 and another Tape Delay named Separe_Delay on Bus 15. I engaged these time-based processors by sending tracks 1, 25, and 51 to bus 2 (Rhythm Reverb). I sent tracks: 79, 80, and 81 to bus 3 (Vox_Reverb). I sent track 79 to bus 14 (Vox_Delay ), and I sent tracks 80 and 81 to bus 15 (Separe_Delay). As part of my mix, I decided that only four tracks needed to pan and they are my Hi Hats (Left pan), Snare(Right pan), Harmony(Left Pan), and my Melody(Right pan). My Kick, Bass, Original Synth, Original Sampler and Audio tracks stayed at zero(0). I used pan automation on track 80, volume automation on track 79 and delay volume automation on tracks 79 and 80.
